Responsibilities

 

The SHS Commercial Effectiveness Consulting practice works with pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients to address a wide range of business issues including market analyses, strategy development and business planning. Projects include: portfolio/franchise/brand strategy, new product planning, pricing and reimbursement strategies; life cycle management; resource allocation and promotional effectiveness.

 

The Commercial Effectiveness practice is the cornerstone to the Symphony Health Solutions vision and future growth. The newly established group is hiring top-tier consulting talent to support it’s unprecedented grow. The team will guide its client base by putting fact-based strategy in place to address root issues and implementing it with the intent of building deep and lasting partnerships as trusted advisors. 

 

Your typical career path starts by joining us as a Consultant, where you work on designing, delivering and managing ground-breaking consulting projects in the global life sciences space. In your role, you will work in small teams of analysts for medium-sized consulting engagements or components of larger, more complex assignments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • The Engagement Manager is responsible for all client interfaces within the assigned account(s).  S/he manages relationships with operational client personnel and is the owner of the entire engagement cycle. S/he will demonstrate excellent executive poise, presence and relevance to executive leadership, up to the levels of CEO, CxO, at the world’s premier Pharmaceutical and Healthcare companies.  
  • S/he will have a good understanding of strategy and consulting best practices.  S/he will be responsible for engagement, delivery quality and customer satisfaction by structuring and managing engagement from inception to completion.  Engagement Mangers lead team meetings and guide, manage, and coach Consultants and Senior Consultants, providing constructive feedback on their project participation and overall career development.
  • The primary focus is on solving strategic and tactical sales & marketing issues across life sciences, bio-technology and healthcare industries.  This includes familiarity with leveraging Payers, Provider and Patient data as applied to one or more aspects of Commercial Effectiveness including Sales Force Optimization, Marketing Effectiveness, Managed Care or Patient Centric Analytics. Knowledge of advanced analytics and market research and ability to blend consulting, analytics, and technology to help healthcare and pharma companies improve the ROI of their sales and marketing.
  • S/he will be working in a highly collaborative and entriponorial environment with other internal business units and using Symphony Health Solutions proprietary data and methodologies for custom analytics and as needed. Key areas of internal interface include: Technology, Business Development, Client Solutions Teams and other Practice areas.

 

Detailed Duties:

Responsibilities are broadly defined and are expected to increase as quickly as aptitude is demonstrated. This is a highly challenging position that draws heavily upon all of the analytical, creative, and interpersonal skills essential to strategy consulting. Engagement Mangers serve lead project teams that deliver high-quality marketing and sales strategy projects to clients. In particular, Engagement Mangers possess qualitative research and unstructured problem solving skills and/or advanced quantitative analytics skills. The ability to assume complete ownership of significant projects while at the same time being a part of and leading a close knit team is essential. Engagement Mangers will be working on or leading multiple projects simultaneously. Our Engagement Mangers must organize their own tasks and schedules in carrying out substantial business analyses and delivering high quality, client-ready work.  As our clients are often large, complex systems, these consultants must demonstrate considerable poise and business maturity to perform effectively and add value in the client environment.  As an Engagement Manager, S/he will also be responsible for deriving insights from the analyses of complex data sets and development of a compelling and persuasive storyline and strategic recommendations for senior management. S/he will be responsible for client presentations and post-delivery follows up to ensure client satisfaction.

  • Client Management:

    • Relationship management with clients purchasing large and recurring services
  • Consulting and Innovation
    • Demonstrate a high level of ability to think strategically and lead initiatives to increase awareness and build credibility
    • Strong analytical skills to strategically address the full range of client issues towards commercial and marketing effectiveness.
  • Project Management:
    • Manage multiple consulting projects of varying complexity
    • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery for clients
    • Effective leadership skills to select, manage and motivate teams in a matrix organization
    • Passion for service delivery and ability to interface effectively with employees and customers of all levels.
  • Operational:
    • Establish processes to support timely and delivery operational excellence
    • Validating scope, conduct project kickoff and satisfaction discussions with stakeholders
    • Review client deliverables to ensure they meet all client acceptance criteria,
    • Support the development of client proposals
  • Organization:
    • Lead, mentor and “grow” the individuals within the Consulting Analytics team
    • Develop strong, positive cross organization relationships with internal groups and ensure collaboration with all functions in the organization

 

Qualifications

  • MBA or other healthcare-related graduate degree preferred
  • Qualified candidates must have six or more years of life science consulting experience or eight or more years of relevant industry experience, preferably in some internal consulting, market research, and/or business development capacities
  • Candidates should be excellent project managers, strong team players, take initiative, and think strategically and creatively
  • Strong understand on secondary data sets and analytics
  • Strong knowledge of and application of pharmaceutical research resources
  • Understanding of market/financial analysis in context of life sciences business needs
  • Well-developed communication skills, including presentations, report writing and meeting facilitation
  • Strong capability in managing projects and juggling priorities in time sensitive, high paced environment
  • Ability to travel up to 20%
