Health Data Services provides technology solutions and professional consulting services to our clients in three key areas: data integration, analytic tools, and cloud-based commercial marts and hubs.  Leveraging Symphony's comprehensive data assets, Vantage Applications, Health Cloud platform and data integration capabilities, the HDS practice offers customized technology-enabled services to client and act as a key interact with internal technology and operations platforms.


The Engagement Manager (EM) is responsible for effective and efficient implementation of custom software solutions for biopharmaceutical companies, leveraging SHS core platforms and will act as the key client interface and project manager.  The Engagement Manager is directly responsible for ensuring client satisfaction with SHS and achieving project profitability objectives.  This professional will have substantial experience in a professional services firm providing IT-related services to the biopharmaceutical industry.  The EM will be able to effectively engage with clients to understand their needs, document requirements, and ensure delivery excellence.  EM’s work collaboratively with SHS Product Management, Operations, IT to deliver on commitments and support development of the core platforms.  The Engagement Manager will report directly to the Practice Leader, Health Data Services.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Delivery Excellence - The EM will act as a key client interface and project manager, ensuring successful project execution. This resource will work closely with SHS IT and Operations to implement custom solutions built upon syndicated platforms, collaboratively determining which custom solutions become part of the core product platform and those that are completed as a client-specific one-off engagement.  He/She will ensure that the solutions are operationally sound and that custom solutions can be delivered in a consistent and reliable manner.
  • Build High-performing Team – The EM will work with the Practice Leader and other Principals to ensure that the practice is staffed with knowledgeable, effective resources. The EM will mentor and develop the team, providing guidance on best practices and delivery approaches.
  • Achieve Financial Objectives - The EM will be directly responsible for project-level profitability. He/She will be responsible for ensuring that the engagement is completed successfully and within the project budget.  The EM will effectively manage project scope and resources to “deliver as committed.” 
  • Sales Support - This resource will work closely with HDS Principals to write compelling proposals and support the growth of the practice.
  • Offerings Development – The EM will support he definition and implementation of new HDS offerings that have substantial market potential.




  • Undergraduate technical degree
  • PMP certification preferred
  • More than 5+ years of experience in a professional services firm providing IT solutions to commercial functions within biopharmaceutical firms.
  • Demonstrated advanced level project management, requirements definition, client engagement, and communications skills. 
  • Expertise in biopharmaceutical commercial processes, knowledge of commercial analytics and supporting business intelligence platforms, and experience with prescriber, payer and patient data derived from claims and clinical sources. 
  • Proven track record of leading project teams and delivery excellence.
  • The EM will have knowledge of business intelligence platforms, data integration & management and biopharmaceutical commercial platforms. Priority platforms are:

    • Analytics & Reporting – QlikView, MicroStrategy
    • Master Data Management – Talend
    • Integration - Informatica
    • Commercial Solutions – Veeva, Incentive Compensation (IBM, Callidus, Xactly)
